Led by future NFL coach Chan Gailey in 1984 and coach Rick Rhoades in 1987, the Trojans brought home two Division II national titles in four years. Tom Clem kicked a game-winning 50-yard field goal to secure a 18-17 win over North Dakota State in 1984, and senior All-American quarterback Mike Turk (who was a freshman on the 1984 team) led the Trojans to a 31-17 championship game victory over Portland State in 1987.
